Sash Window Restoration at Sheppards Barton, Frome

This Frome window is the oldest one restored by sashwindowstlc. Sheppards Barton consists of two rows of terraced weavers’ cottages dating from the early 18th century. A very early design, the window is solid-framed, the bottom sash only held open with wooden pegs (not cords and weights). It was said to date from 1719.

After 300 years the whole window needed complete repair and renovation. The work included replacing the rotted sill, two bottom sash rails, short sections at the lower end of the solid frame and complete re-puttying.
